Google Gemini is not a weak tool. It is one of the most capable AI assistants around, and most owners already have it free on their phone. A 2026 industry survey found 56% of the owners surveyed already use it. The real question is not whether Gemini is good. It is whether a tool you have to open and ask is the same as an employee who answers your customers on its own.
What Google Gemini actually is
Gemini is Google's AI assistant. It lives in its own app, and it is built into Gmail, Docs, Chrome, and other Google apps you may already use every day. The free tier gives you Gemini 3.5 Flash and some access to the stronger Gemini 3.1 Pro model, plus image tools, Deep Research, and Gemini Live voice chat.
Paid tiers unlock more. Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month for higher usage limits and 400 GB of storage. Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month, with 5 TB of storage and deeper access to the Pro model. Google AI Ultra starts at $99.99 a month and runs to $199.99 a month for the top tier, with the highest usage limits and the newest features first.
The Business Profile connection, and its limit
In June 2026, Google added a way to connect Gemini straight to your Google Business Profile with a single tap. Once linked, Gemini can look at your reviews, your customer questions, and your performance data. Ask it how your business did this month, and it will tell you. Ask it to draft a reply to a review, and it will write one in your voice.
That is a real, useful feature. It is also something you have to start. You open the app, you connect the profile, you ask the question. Google's own "Business Notebooks" surface insights the moment you open one, not before. Nothing here reads an incoming message from a customer and answers them while you are busy on a job.
Gemini Spark: more agentic, still yours to run
Google's newest push makes Gemini more agentic. A feature called Spark can work in the background on tasks you set it: parsing your credit card statement for new charges, or checking your inbox for a school update and sending you a daily digest. That is a genuine step past a plain chat assistant.
Look at what Spark is actually built for, though. You turn it on. You choose which apps it can touch. It asks you first before anything involving money or an outgoing email. It is aimed at your own inbox and your own bills, not at the person calling your business right now. It will not answer that call for you.
Why Gemini can't answer your phone
Gemini's Phone app on Android can place a call for you, ask a question, and report back. Google's own help page is direct about the other direction: the app "can't help you accept or reject calls." An incoming call to your business still needs a person to pick it up, or it goes to voicemail. For a trade business, that gap is where a job goes to whoever answers next.
Where Gemini fits
Gemini is a strong pick if you want a sharper assistant for your own work: drafting an email, researching a supplier, checking your calendar, writing a quote template, glancing at your Business Profile when you have five minutes. If your lead volume is light and you are happy being the one who opens the app each time, the free tier or Google AI Plus covers a lot of ground for very little money.
Where SvarKlar fits
SvarKlar is built for the moments nobody is looking at a screen. The missed call while you are under a sink. The web form filled out at 9 PM. The text that sits unread until the next morning. SvarKlar answers all of it itself, the moment it happens, and Fred sets the whole thing up so you never have to open an app to make it work.
Both tools solve the same problem in different ways. Gemini makes you sharper for the work you already sit down to do. SvarKlar handles the leads that show up while you are doing something else entirely.
