People who search for Google Voice for business are usually doing one of two things: moving the shop's phone numbers onto Google, or trying to stop calls from going unanswered. The prices below answer the first. They say little about the second.
Google Voice pricing, plan by plan
Google lists Starter at $10, Standard at $20 and Premier at $30 per user per month. A crew of five on Standard would be 5 x $20 = $100 a month, plus the Workspace subscription underneath. This is rough math on the listed price, not a quote. Google also lists single-user Starter and Standard plans for people with a personal Gmail account, available in the US only. Those fit a one-person operation, not a company with a team.
What the Standard plan adds
Auto attendants need Standard or Premier. They greet callers, offer a menu and send people to a submenu, voicemail or a person, with a different greeting after hours. Ring groups, up to 50 members, need the same plans and can ring everyone at once or one person after another. Premier adds automatic call recording and reporting in BigQuery. So the $10 plan is a line and a voicemail box, and the menu comes at $20.
Where Google Voice texting stops
The Starter plan lists unlimited US texting, but Google's own help page says Voice messaging is meant for one-on-one conversations, not bulk messaging. It adds that sending many messages quickly, sending links or sending the same text to many people can get messages blocked. Google does not publish the quota. For answering one customer at a time, that is fine. For automatic follow-up to a list of leads, ask Google before you rely on it.
Google Voice alternatives: what SvarKlar does instead
Google Voice gives you the line. SvarKlar begins where the line stops: it answers the call with AI, and texts back any caller it misses within seconds. If a customer asks, the AI says it is an AI, and it does not dispatch jobs. New to the category? Our plain guide to AI receptionists covers the basics.
When you need Google Voice
If your team already lives in Gmail and Google Calendar and you want business numbers, shared lines and a call menu, Google Voice is a plain, well-known fit, and Starter plans include 24/7 Google Voice support. SvarKlar is not a phone system, so it does not replace that. You can run both: Google for the lines, and a founder-run service for the leads that slip through.
When a reply in seconds matters more
This part is our opinion, and we sell SvarKlar. If the job you lose is the caller who hears voicemail and rings the next company, a menu does not fix it, because nobody is there to answer. A reply in seconds can. Frederik will look at your recent missed leads with you, and tell you straight if Google Voice is enough. For a wider field than Google alone, see the best AI receptionist for service businesses.
Google Voice rents you lines by the seat, and your people still do the answering. SvarKlar does the replying on the channels you pick.
